The Perfect Holiday Treat: Decadent Chocolate Mousse Recipe

Ingredients:

  • Eggs – 8 (yolks)
  • Sugar – ½ cup x2
  • Chocolate – (10oz of Dark Chocolate – 4oz chocolate mint) Chopped
  • Cream – 4 Cups
  • Vanilla Extract – ½ tsp x2
  • Mint leaf – Garnish

Recipe:

Whipped Cream:

  • Add 1 ½ Cups of cream to your mixer with the ½ cup of sugar and ½ tsp of Vanilla. Mix until desired consistency
  • Place into scoop whipped cream into empty bowl and place into fridge

Mousse:

  • Chop your chocolate up into small pieces then place into a large bowl and set aside
  • In your mixer, add ½ cup of sugar and your egg yolks. Mix on medium speed until think but smooth then remove bowl from mixer – you will use a whisk from here
  • Using a medium sized pot, bring 2 cups of cream to a simmer while stirring repetitively so bottom does burn
  •  Add your warmed simmered cream SLOWLY to your egg yolk and sugar mix. While adding constantly whisk. 
  • Now add another ½ cup of cream to your mix
  • Take your entire mixture and scoop it back into your pot to bring to a simmer – do not let it boil – LOW TO MEDIUM HEAT
  • Once your mixture thickens to the point it layers the back of a spoon remove it from the heat
  • Slowly pour the hot mixture over the chocolate you set aside in step 1
  • Stir constantly as you mix the chocolate into your mixture then add ½ tsp of Vanilla extract and whisk a couple more times.
  • Refrigerate for 1-2 hours 
  • Use your Whipped cream as a topping when you serve in small bowls
